CNY SNAP, Central New York’s Spay and Neuter Assistance Program, is partnering with Subaru’s Ithaca branch during the month of October. For every pet adopted within the month, Subaru will donate $100. On top of this, Maquire Subaru will donate another “$20 to the ASPCA, [American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals], for select Genuine Subaru Pet-friendly Accessories purchased from participating retailers” during all of October!”
What is Subaru Loves Pets?
The Subaru Loves Pets initiative started in 2008, where Subaru promotes and financially supports the adoption, rescue, transport, and health of shelter animals across the country.
As stated on their website, “Subaru believes all pets deserve a loving home,” and pride themselves on being the “largest corporate donor to the ASPCA.” Subaru has donated “$51 million to national and local organizations”, which has supported “over 420,000 animals.”
In addition, Subaru has created their own holiday, “National Make a Dog’s Day,” celebrated on October 22nd, where they invite people with their dogs to post on social media a funny memory or special moment they shared with their dog. According to Subaru, they will be celebrating their 5th annual National Make a Dog’s Day and emphasize the love for the “older, physically challenged, last-to-be-chosen shelter dogs” that Subaru calls, “the Underdogs.”
I was lucky enough to speak with Jill Pace, who has worked with CNY SNAP for about 2 years as volunteer adoption coordinator.
Pace stated, “When Maguire Subaru reached out to CNY SNAP to partner with us for the Subaru Loves Pets in the month of October, we happily accepted,” Pace elaborated that they have a “goal of adopting 31 cats out during the month of October.”
