With summer around the corner, it means it’s time to turn off the college mode switch and occupy yourself for three whole months. As (almost) stress-free summer is, we still need to find things to do to occupy ourselves and keep our brains flowing. Before you know it, you’ll be back at school again with assignment after assignment and weekends full of fun. Even though most of us have jobs in the summer, there’s still a lot more time for fun. If you want to know how to spend your time to the fullest this summer, read on!
Go Swimming / Go For a Hike
Now this summer activity is a given, but some people don’t have the opportunity to go swimming. If you don’t live near a beach, I recommend finding a spot to hike. You can grab some friends and make it into a whole day. If you do have a beach or pool nearby, definitely take advantage of it because sooner than later we’ll be back to 10 degree weather with snow. Wherever you decide to go swimming, make sure you bring a speaker, food, and lots of sunscreen.
Make a Bucket List
I’m sure this may be something we’ve all done as kids or even recently, but if you haven’t, I would recommend making a list of all the things you’ve wanted to do but haven’t gotten the chance to. Whenever you’re bored, just grab your list and I guarantee there will be something on there that you can spend your time doing, even if it’s as simple as making a new meal. Some ideas you can put on it could include painting, finishing a book, meeting new people, etc. The list goes on, but it’s so customizable that you could put almost anything on there, as long as it’s safe! This idea may sound cheesy, but it ultimately allows you to do things that you may have never done before because you’ve been so busy.
Go To a Concert
Even if it’s just a local band, go vibe out to some live music with your friends or family. One of my favorite things to do in the summer is to go to outdoor concerts. Something about the atmosphere of live music during the summer just really hits differently. But if you can, go to that concert for your favorite artist you’ve been dying to see, it could be life changing!
Learn Something New
Personally, I’ve been watching my guitar collect dust in my room, but never got around to it. So just like me, you should take time this summer to learn something new that you’ve always wanted to do. If you’re moving off campus next semester, you may want to start learning how to cook simple meals for yourself, or even just how to shop for meals. It can become overwhelming cooking for yourself every night on top of school work, but it’s essential and can be very easy once adapted!
