SUNY Cortland booked two-time RIAA (Recording Industry Association of America) certified platinum award winner Yung Gravy for the 2023 Spring Fling headliner.
Yung Gravy describes his music style as “a mix of trap, old school rap, and just a little bit of comedy.” He samples former top hits from different decades and references older pop culture media through humor to bring a unique playful feel to his music.
Yung Gravy preformed in the SUNY Cortland Alumni Arena in Park Center at 9:00pm on Saturday April 29th, 2023. Gravy opened the show with one of his most popular songs Gravy Train. He continued with songs from his albums Gasanova, Sensational, Marvelous, Baby Gravy 2 and Snow Cougar.
Gravy’s performance was great and full of energy. He connected with the crowd with his famous witty banter in-between songs, passed out water bottles, signed Lunchables for concert goers, and, at one point, even came down from the stage to give roses to females in the audience.
Gravy’s DJ, Tiiiiiiiiiip (yes, with ten I’s), even gave a little shout out to our local bar, The Dark Horse, while collecting the bras, (and even one pair of men’s boxers) that were thrown to Gravy for his well-known donations to women’s shelters, .
One of the most impressive parts of the show was the bright and vibrant lights. The pulsing colors gave intensity and energy to the performance. Certain light settings throughout the show gave a nostalgic ambience that embodies the vibe of Yung Gravy’s music style.

Overall, Yung Gravy’s performance was definitely a fun, upbeat, and exhilarating experience that SUNY Cortland Students were lucky to have the opportunity of going to for such a low price.
