As Cortland students, there are many extracurricular activities offered to us through the school. Some of these activities include intramural sports which includes a wide variety of different activities that u can compete in with friends.
As the spring semester comes to an end, you may be starting to think about how you can get more involved next year but aren’t sure how. All you must do is get a group of friends together or join a group on your own and get started!
A junior, MaryGrace Spano, stated “The process is very simple. I played intramural basketball and all I had to do was follow the link and add myself to a team.”
Joining a team is very simple, you only must know what sport and team you will be joining along with where you go to sign up. Here are a few steps to follow to help you get started:
- Figure out what league you want to join and if possible, with whom.
- Go to IMleagues.com and insert your school information.
- If you don’t already have an account, you must create one.
- Join your team, and you’re all ready to play!
Now that you know how simple joining a team is, let me tell you about the different options for the fall semester. Some of the teams include 4v4 basketball, 4v4volleyball, badminton tournament, flag football, floor hockey, kickball, outdoor soccer, and Ping pong tournaments.
Getting involved on campus is a great way to meet new people and get away from the stress of school for a few hours every week. Even if it’s your final year at Cortland next semester, it’s still worth a try to join an intramural sport. You might surprise yourself with how much fun you will have!
A junior, Casey Wurtz, stated “I played in my first intramural sports league as a junior and I had a great time playing with my friends and even meeting new people!”
