If you’re anything like me, you love to rewatch your favorite TV shows. New Girl, Friends, Criminal Minds, etc., are all fair game as some of my favorite comfort shows. Throw it on in the background while you get some homework done or clean your room-even if you’re not paying attention, you know what episode is on and what’s coming next. But, as they say, ‘spring is for new beginnings,’ and part of that includes binging a new TV show.
White Lotus
Described by HBO as “a sharp social satire”, White Lotus is an HBO exclusive series following the exploits of various employees and guests at an exclusive fictional resort chain over the span of one highly transformative week.
Darker dynamics emerge with each passing day, the six-episode first season, set in Hawaii, gradually reveals the complex truths of the seemingly picture-perfect travelers, cheerful hotel employees, and idyllic locale itself. Rated some of the best television seen this year, Season 2 boasts a beautiful Sicilian resort vacation, following a similar plot line revolving around the guests of the hotel. While each character has their own plot line, the show allows for a seamless convergence upon one another throughout each episode. This show will undoubtedly have you hooked after just two episodes.
Dance Moms
If you’re anything like me, and you love to watch reality TV, Dance Moms is officially available on Disney+ and Hulu. Famed dance instructor Abby Lee Miller owns and operates her own dance studio in Pennsylvania. At this studio, she trains a team of elite dancers to compete in national dance competitions. Every week, her dancers are responsible for learning a new group routine, as well as solo competition pieces, unlike other teams who receive a single dance for the competition season. As a former childhood dancer, Miller’s famed attitude and commentary makes me nostalgic for my studio days. In addition, as its title implies, the moms of all of the dancers show their own internal politics and drama, making for hilarious and intriguing drama for all viewers. Overall, Dance Moms is a great show to have on in the background if you’re looking for a little bit of reality TV drama.
Ted Lasso
Officially on it’s last season, Ted Lasso is Apple TV’s most popular contribution to television streaming. Winner of 11 Emmy Awards, Ted Lasso follows Jason Sudeikis as he plays an American football coach placed in charge of a struggling British football team. The show has won back to back Outstanding Comedy Series awards (2021, 2022,) which should tell you all you need to know about how funny it will be. A great show to watch if you are looking for a comedy, Ted Lasso certainly has jokes for you. An easy to binge comedy, this show alone is worth the Apple TV subscription.
