The Performing Arts Department performed their last showing of the classic musical “Cabaret” on Sunday, April 2nd. I got the chance to see the show on March 31st, it was my first time attending a musical at SUNY Cortland and I was not disappointed by the talent that was on display.
The stage was rather small, as it took place in the Lab Theatre in the Dowd Fine Arts Center. I immediately noticed how cool the set looked, and when combined with the lighting throughout the show it created an intimate and immersive experience. The definition of cabaret is “entertainment held in a nightclub or restaurant while the audience eats or drinks at tables”. Much of the musical takes place at the “Kit Kat Klub” in Berlin.
