On Friday, March 24th, a campus wide email was sent out about the new meal plan changes made for next semester. SUNY Cortland Auxiliary Services listened to student feedback on a survey sent out and created an on-campus meal plan that has an increase in dining dollars, a new addition called meal exchanges and resident dining swipes.
There are 4 packages in the new meal for students who live on campus: platinum plan, gold plan, silver plan, bronze plan
The platinum plan is the largest package available. It includes unlimited meals per week in the residential dining, $450 dining dollars, 48 meal exchanges and 5 guest meals. The total cost of this meal package is $3500 per semester.
The gold plan includes 14 meals per week in residential dining, $450 dining dollars, 48 meal exchanges and 5 guest passes. The total price of this meal package is $3340 per semester.
The silver plan is the default plan. Default means this is the package every student will be given however they can change their package to any of the other 3 options. This plan includes 14 meals per week in residential dining, $350 dining dollars, 48 meal exchanges and 5 guest passes. The total cost of this plan is $3250 per semester.
The bronze plan is the lowest available plan. This includes 14 meals per week in residential dining, $250 dining dollars, 48 meal exchanges and 5 guest passes. The total cost of this plan is $3160.
What are meal exchanges?
Every on-campus meal plan offers 48 meal exchanges. These can be used as per each student’s liking however it averages out to 3 per week. These can be used at any dining facility on campus, including residential dining locations. The residential dining locations are Neubig and Bistro.
Meal exchanges have set balances/meal prices for each meal (breakfast, lunch, dinner). If the meal you buy meets the set amount of money or less, it will cover the student meal. If the meal exceeds the set price, then an individual can use dining dollars, connections, or credit/debit to cover the remaining cost.
Just like dining dollars, meal exchanges do not carry over to the next semester.
The set values for the next academic year are:
- Breakfast (ends at 11am) : $9:50
- Lunch (11am -3pm) : $12.50
- Dinner (after 3pm) : $13.50
Off Campus Student Meal Plan Options
Students who live off campus can still have a meal plan. There are three options, meals per semester plan, dining dollar plan or unlimited access plan. All these plans differ from the on-campus meal plan options. Here is the link to find them if you are interested: https://www.cortlandaux.com/dining-services/meal-plans
