With spring break approaching, unfortunately, some of us may be staying home rather than going to the sunny beach. Because of this, we may find ourselves experiencing FOMO (Fear of missing out). Keep reading to hear about some different ways to keep yourself occupied during this upcoming break.
1. Have a Picnic or a Campfire
Grab your favorite snacks and food, and enjoy it outside! The first step to a great picnic is of course, a blanket (you could even use a bed sheet!) The next part is the best, the food. Whether you make something, bring snacks, or order your favorite local pizza, make sure there’s plenty of yummy food to keep you satisfied. If you choose to bring your friends, make sure to bring a speaker to enjoy some of your favorite tunes as well. You can even set the scene to take some cute pictures for your instagram. Show your followers that you’re able to have a fun time at home as well as they are! If you live in a cold area, you may want to opt to have a campfire instead. This is the perfect opportunity to make s’mores and wrap yourself in a blanket while singing around the campfire.
2. Have a “Board Night”
If you’re on TikTok, you may or may not know about the infamous “Board Night”. This includes a friend group or family all creating separate boards containing one food group item. It’s essentially charcuterie boards, but expanded. I’ve seen people make boards including all Chick-Fil-A menu items, a candy board, or a sushi board. The best part is that you can customize it however you want! Just make sure you include enough for everyone attending the gathering!
3. Go for a Drive at Sunset
Even if it will still be cold when you’re at home, you can still go for a drive to see all that your town offers while the sun sets. One of my favorite things to do is to drive down to my local beach and grab my favorite food to watch the sunset. If you don’t live near a beach, go to any empty parking lot and play your favorite music, this is what I like to call, free therapy. I would also suggest doing this with your friends, or even a family member. After all, you only get to see them when you’re home on breaks!
4. Learn How to Make a New Food
Whether it’s a bakery item, or even just a salad, learning something new is always a good way to expand our minds. My personal favorite item to bake are brownies baked with cookies and oreos. Yes, all together! All you need for this is boxed brownie mix, pre-made cookie dough, and a package of oreos. There are plenty of recipes online for it and they’re so simple. If that doesn’t sound like your cup of tea, still try and learn something that you have wanted to try but never got around to it. This opens a new doorway to something you may potentially love and it may push you to try and learn new things!
