When senior year rolls around, we all usually have the same thoughts rolling around in the back of our minds. This thought is one we have thought about and imagined so many times throughout our years of growing up. Where will I attend college?
This thought is one that races through your mind because you want to make the best choice for yourself and don’t want to choose the wrong school to pursue a degree to start your future. I may be biased but I think SUNY Cortland is a great school that could make a lot of students happy with their decision. I personally struggled with choosing the school I wished to attend but, in the end, I was happy with my decision of SUNY Cortland.
You might be thinking, what makes SUNY Cortland so good? Well, I personally love the dedication this campus puts into all they do, from sporting events to Greek life, to clubs, you can see a great deal of pride within the students and their campus. Attending just one sporting event you can see the campus community come together to show their dedication for their school. So many students attend these games and the field, court, bleachers, and the seats that are taken up with spectators are all filled with pride for representing such a great school. Even during the things such as rush for Greek life, the potential new members walk into the events with a smile hoping to be able to represent a chapter in a positive way to give back to the community. Here at SUNY Cortland, students can find a club that best suits their interests of all sorts of things or even make their own to fulfill their interests as well.
One of the things that really shows the impact SUNY Cortland has on their current students and alumni is attending SUNY Cortland’s footballs teams big game called Cortaca where Cortland play their rival school, Ithaca. I remember attending this game surrounded by what felt like thousands of people, who were going crazy as their team played. I remember the feeling of pride I felt after leaving this game knowing then I had made the perfect decision with my college.
Coming to campus freshman year, you might not be happy with your choice because you’re surrounded by a lot of changes and brand-new faces. You may feel trapped, alone, and want to transfer immediately but my tip to you, is to explore the campus more in depth. Become a part of something that best suits your interests, by doing so you will grow to love the campus more and it could also be your first steps into finding your lifelong college friendships.
