We all love the cheap and easy aspects of Ramen Noodles, but what if I told you there’s still ways to stay on budget while still making quick and yummy meals? And let’s be honest, us college students have busy schedules and are all looking for the time to squeeze in meals. With that being said, here are some fast and easy meals that you should start adding to your weekly rotation.
Every morning, I have a hard time getting out of bed, and I’m sure most of you do too. So naturally I wait until the last minute possible until I need to be up and getting ready for class. In the midst of that, I never prioritize making and eating breakfast, which I know lots of other students do as well. So after researching and testing, I’ve found a meal that can not only be made the night before, but it’s also healthy and filling. If you’re on social media, you’ve probably heard about the hype of overnight oats. If not, they’re basically just oats that can be made with any ingredients you please, and then placed in the fridge to be ready to eat the next morning. This meal is very personalizable because you can add any fruit, seed, or spread that you like. If these easy oats sound good, here’s how to prepare this easy meal. First, you’ll need these ingredients:
- ½ cup of Rolled Oats
- ½ cup of milk of choice
- Optional: honey, chia seeds, fruit, etc.
Next, you’ll want to combine your ingredients, and there you have it, quick and easy overnight oats.
When I come back from classes or the gym, all I can think about is what to make, and how to make it fast. I know some people have a hard time squeezing lunch into their schedules, but when you do, you can always rely on a buttery, melty, grilled cheese (optional: with soup!) I’m sure we’ve all had grilled cheese, and know how delicious and quick they are. Even though it’s a very simple meal, there’s many ways to spice it up to make it more filling and delish! This could include adding bacon and tomato, or even add some deli sliced ham to it. Heating up a cup of soup on the stove (or even quicker, the microwave) is also a great way to amp up this cheesy sandwich. Tomato is a good option, along with chicken noodle or broccoli and cheddar. Here are the few ingredients needed to put together this sandwich:
- Bread of choice
- Cheese of choice (preferably sliced)
- Butter
- Protein of choice (optional)
- Soup of choice
Finally, it’s dinner time! My favorite meal of the day, but also the most tiring. Dinner is usually made at the hours when we are all finishing up classes and work, so naturally our bodies want something easy to throw together. I recently made a taco salad, which not only was delicious, but allowed for leftovers to make other meals with. Some ingredients needed to perfect this yummy dish:
- Iceberg lettuce
- Ground beef
- Cheese of choice
- Tomatoes
- Chopped red onion
- Guacamole
- Sour Cream
This salad is very customizable which is a big part of what makes it so good. Plus, once you’re done cooking your ground beef, you can store the rest in the fridge and heat it up the next day to make it again or even something easy like a quesadilla.
All of these easy meals are very basic, customizable meals that can hopefully be added to your weekly meal rotation after having read this article.
