Looking for something to do on Valentine’s Day this year? This Valentine’s Day, Tuesday February 14th, 2023, Student Activities Board (SAB) will be holding their Valentine’s Day Stuff a Plush event. This event will take place from 7:00pm-9:00pm in the Corey Union Function room. They will provide students with conversation heart shaped plushes to make.
Student activities board (SAB) hosts the “stuff a ” events several times throughout the academic year. Some examples of this event’s previous themes are adopt a red dragon, Halloween stuff a plush, and adopt an animal. SAB Special Events Chair and sophomore, Summer Roberts gave some fun facts about the event, “They are conversation heart plushes and are made with recycled materials.”
A plush is a soft materialled stuffed animal or pillow. The Student Activities board will have heart plushes with different designs and colors, they will be left unstuffed for students. They will also be providing each student with stuffing to make their own pillow. Students can sit down with significant others, friends or new people and stuff their heart pillows together.
Why should people go to this event on Valentine’s Day? This can be a fun activity for anyone to do on Valentine’s Day. People can come with their special someone and they can make heart plushes for each other. Or people can come with friends or alone and create their very own heart plushes for themselves. SAB President and Junior, Katelyn Thompson “Stuff a plush is an event that can be a good time for anyone… although it gives people who don’t have dates a fun thing to do on Valentines Day.”
SAB board member and junior, Kelsie Bushart gave information on these previous events, “Lots of people always come to these events and we always run out of supplies.”
Cassandra Bayles, a junior, plans to attend the event next week and she has also attended previous ones, “These events are always so fun…I love participating and always make new friends at the events.” This event seems to be a hit with SUNY (State University of New York) Cortland students.
The Student Activities Board recommends that you arrive early for the event if you want a plush. Roberts explained that SAB “…has a limited amount of 200 plushes”. Additionally Bushart recollected that, “People usually show up 1-2 hours early to wait in line for these events.”
