Cortland Ranks Among the Top 15% Of the Nation’s Best Universities

This past month the College Factual’s 2023 Best Colleges list came out and SUNY Cortland has been ranked among the top 15% of the national best university and colleges. College Factual noted that several of Cortland’s academic programs are among the best in the Mid-Atlantic Region.

SUNY Cortland has been ranked among the top 15% of the nation’s best universities and colleges on College Factual’s 2023 Best Colleges List, in this report, Cortland ranked 298 out of 2,241 schools across the United States. That’s the highest of all 13 comparable SUNY campuses.

According to College Factual, the academic programs that were among the best in the Mid-Atlantic Region were, the parks, recreation, leisure studies, physical education, subject-specific teacher education, exercise science, sports management, special education, and teaching English as a second language.

College Factual describes itself as an online portal designed to assist prospective college students, parents, guidance counselors, and others involved in the college selection process.

Top-ranked categories for SUNY Cortland:

SUNY Cortland is ranked among the 75 top majors for Physical fitness Technician students.

Toped 144 out of 1476 for Best Value Schools for a bachelor’s ranking.

Ranked 236 out of 2,157 in Best Colleges for Veterans Ranking

The best ranking for the most popular major is Parks & Rec students

Among the statistics, Cortland ranked higher compared to its national peers including a student loan default rate of 3.5%. This figure is significantly lower than the national default rate of 10.1% and indicates a level of financial success that is uncommon among graduates of most other universities.

Students who graduate from SUNY Cortland with a bachelor’s degree go on to jobs where they make an average salary of $53,711 in their early post-college years. College Factual has calculated that as 26% more than the average college graduate’s starting salary of $42,485. 

On top of it, 59% of faculty at Cortland are listed as full-time, that’s more than the 47% national average. 

All in all, there are several factors that play into SUNY Cortland being ranked in the top 15% of the Nation’s Best Universities, as well as offering programs that benefit students’ careers and credentials.
