I am a huge pizza fan and have tried slices from most restaurants here in Cortland. I will say, I’m not very picky and there’s rarely a pizza I don’t like. If you’re an avid pizza lover, you know how it can vary from the crust, the sweetness of the sauce, the texture of the cheese, aftertaste, etc. Here’s a list of some of the places I love and maybe a few I wouldn’t recommend.
Little Italy Pizzeria, Homer, NY
This is my favorite pizza place that is close to Cortland. If you drive about five minutes toward Homer you will come across a cute little pizzeria with a large menu. Their pizza is thin but the slices are big and greasy just like your classic New York Pizzeria.
Pontillo’s
This is second on my list, but my usual go-to if I’m looking for a quick bite in between classes. The crust on their pizza is crunchy and their pizza is super cheesy. Their sauce is on the sweet side but I love to just sit in their big dining area and enjoy my food.
A Pizza and More
A Pizza and More is a classic staple for late-night pizza after a night out. Those slices of pizza are just enough to put you right to sleep before you head home for the night. Their slices are crisp and greasy.
Brix
If you’re looking for a classic and tasty pizza, Brix is the perfect place to go. I recommend the Margherita or the Cheezus Crust pizza. The atmosphere of Brix isn’t like any pizza place in Cortland, it’s more of a nicer restaurant that has good pizza.
A Round Pizza
This is the one pizza place that I do not recommend trying. I tried their pizza and wings once and I was not impressed at all. The cheese, the sauce, and the crust, were all subpar.
I’m not saying Cortland has phenomenal pizza, but this is just a list of my preferences here. While some may disagree with my preferences, it is all about what you like and dislike. “Unless you are a pizza, the answer is yes, I can live without you.” -Bill Murray.
