This time of year is definitely the most stressful for students. With the semester quickly coming to an end, it’s time to catch up on any late or missing assignments, all while focusing on final assignments and exams. Everyone is looking forward to going home for the holidays, but it’s time to put in the work to get those good grades! Here are a few tips that may help you out during this time.
Make a to-do list
I feel as if this step is almost essential for success. Some people may not need it, but being organized is the first step to prioritizing what needs to get done. On this list, I would start by going through all of your classes to see if there are any assignments missing. This way, if you are confused about anything, you can get in contact with your professors before it is too late. Then plan out times throughout your day when you can sit down and do work.
Find a quiet place
Head to the library, a quiet spot in a building, or even just your bedroom if that’s what works for you. What’s most important is that you go to this spot with the intent to get work done. It also helps if you come prepared with everything you need such as snacks, water, chargers, etc. This way you won’t have the need to leave.
Take breaks!
You will burn yourself out if you don’t give yourself breaks. I promise you nobody will think you are weird for getting up and taking a lap around the library every hour. This will give your body a stretch and your brain a break. I find breaks helpful because I come back to my work with a fresh mind.
Stay away from your phone
Even though I struggle with this one, it really does help a lot being away from your phone. If you don’t feel comfortable with your phone being too far away from you or off, at least put it on do not disturb. This way, you will not be tempted to check your phone every time you feel it buzzing or hear a notification. Once you pick up your phone, it’s easy to fall into a hole and the next thing you know you’ve been watching TikToks for an hour!
Finals are here! I hope these study tips will help you out during this crazy time. Everybody has their own personal preference, find what works best for you and stick with it.
