Each year around Cortaca Jug time, SUNY Cortland and Ithaca College host the Cortaca Challenge. The 63rd Cortaca jug game will be held at Yankee Stadium this year, which is a huge deal for both schools.
To keep the rivalry going, both schools wanted to give students, alumni, and parents the opportunity to join in on all of the fun. The Cortaca Challenge is a friendly competition to see which school can receive more donations within a certain time period.
By winning this challenge, Cortland can gain up to $100,000 to the Cortland Fund as a dollar-for-dollar match by alumni Bill Haines. Any gift made during this challenge will be matched at an equal amount. All unique donors between Monday November 7th and Sunday November 13th count.
The stakes are even higher this year after a bet was made. Whichever school loses the challenge, their president has to wear the opposing schools sweatshirt. We want to have those bragging rights and not have to wear Ithaca apparel, which makes it even more important to donate. This is such a great opportunity to give back to SUNY Cortland.
By clicking the link on the challenge website, you will be brought to a page where you can choose how much to donate and give a reason why you made the choice.
Spreading the word on social media is also a huge part! Using the hashtag #Cortaca will help for more people to stay updated and connected to the game and challenge. This is the perfect way to join in on beating Ithaca again this year, even if you aren’t on the field!
