The New York Jets have continued to foster their winning and hopeful season with a thrilling and stunning victory against the Buffalo Bills on sunday. The Jets won the game with a final score of 20-17 making it one of the closest games all year. This win for the Jets marks perhaps the biggest upset of the NFL season thus far, as the Bills are considered to be one of the best teams in the NFL.
The Jets had started off the game slow, going down by double digits early on in the game. However, the Jets stayed determined and did not back down to the heavily favored Buffalo Bills. The slow start had worn off by the second quarter and the Jets began to make some huge plays to really help their cause to win.
On the defensive side, The Jets were able to make two interceptions, picking off the Bill’s superstar quarterback in Josh Allen. This effort was highlighted by a timely interception by standout Jets rookie Sauce Gardner, further cementing him as one of the top defensive rookies this year. The defense was also able to affect Allen by sacking him five times throughout the game.
On the other side of the ball, second year quarterback Zach Wilson looked rejuvenated. After an extremely difficult performance the past week against the New England Patriots, Zach Wilson was able to take care of the football better during this game, throwing no interceptions and only having one turnover during the whole game with a strip sack. Wilson was able to find the endzone with a 7 yard touchdown pass to newly acquired Jet’s running back James Robinson. Wilson looked very decisive and ure of himself in the pocket, something that was a bit of an issue for him for most of the games he has appeared in this season.
The Jets were not shy about their confidence in the locker room despite being touted as the massive underdogs coming into a game against their AFC East rival. Zach Wilson explained how he and the rest of the team knew that they were a good team and how within the Jets locker room they did not consider themselves underdogs at all despite the media coverage.
The Jets have continued to please their fans this season who have endured many losing and disappointing seasons from their team in recent history. Head coach Robert Saleh and his defense have certainly been a story to follow this season, as they have been much better than expected before the season had started and continue to impress fans and give opposing teams problems.
The offense, while having a controversial quarterback in Zach Wilson, has looked promising due to the young talent on that side of the ball that have taken this year’s rookie class by storm, and have been more impactful than expected. These aspects all combine to a 6-3 record so far on the season and a promising future.
