As we know, November 12th is the one and only football game between Cortland and Ithaca College, known as Cortaca. The game will be held at Yankee Stadium at 1pm and a live broadcast by YES Network. The YES network is allowing this game to be available for non-subscribers, and will also be streaming through Ithaca College’s student run radio station, WICB and Ithaca’s athletics website will be posting live stats.
Tickets are available for purchase through cortacajug.com and Ticketmaster. One can then choose to sit on Cortland’s side, third base/left field, or Ithaca’s side, first right/right field. No matter what source the ticket was purchased through, it will be sent digitally.
“I hope many people are able to join us in person to celebrate out student-athletes and take part in one of the largest gathering in SUNY Cortland history,” says SUNY Cortland President Erik J. Bitterbaum, “having the option to follow the game on the YES Network is the latest proof that Cortaca Jug really is ‘the biggest little game in the nation,” reported on our website.
Campus is noticeably preparing for the game, as there are many actually traveling to the game, there are also viewing parties here in town. Many students are are finding it easier to stay here in Cortland than go to the game just nearing the end of the fall semester.
“Though I am going to be staying in Cortland, I know that me and my friends are all very excited to watch the game,” says junior Camryn DeGorter, “I think we are just going to hangout at home and have some people over.”
“I’m not going to the game this year but I think I might be getting together with my sorority sisters and watch the game together,” Sydney Sullivan said, a junior who is a part of Greek Life here at Cortland.
“Even though it is my last year, I will not be going to the game. I found it to be easier for me to stay here,” senior, Lauren Reitano states, “I think some of my friends from home are going to come up and we’ll go to the bars later.”
“I’m just excited to order some good food and have some friends over,” says Jonathan Rollo, currently a junior here, “when it was my freshman year here, the game was cancelled, so I really want to make the most of the next 2 games.”
According to our the official Twitter account of Yankee Stadium, they tweeted on September 21, 2021, “The 2022 Cortaca Jug Football Game will be played at Yankee Stadium! Hailed by Sports Illustrated as ‘the biggest little game in the nation.'”
A press release on October 6th, 2022, Major League Baseball states there is “a limited number of tickets [that] remain available for purchase to the general public.” Both Ithaca and Cortland are currently 4-0, with Ithaca as ranked at 12 and Cortland ranked at 10 by the American Football Coaches Association.
