At the last student government meeting there were a handful of important events discussed as well as additions to Cortland. This meeting took place before fall break, Tuesday October 11th. Below are all the important things discussed.
Posting Flyers in the Library
One important thing to note for anyone who wants to put flyers up anywhere on campus such as in the library, is approval is needed to do so. Although there seems to be flyers and information papers everywhere, students cannot post flyers anywhere without getting permission from the building first. This is for a few reasons, one being that the posters need to be placed in certain areas to keep up with fire code. So make sure to ask and get permission before posting anything in any building!
Cortaca Update
The Cortaca game is now being nationally televised! The time of the game has also been changed from 1pm to noon. Make sure to account this into your planning if you are going to Yankee Stadium to see the game. The network it will be broadcasted on is the YES network for anyone who wants to watch the game from home. The game takes place on November 12th.
Mental Health Help
For any students who ever need a space to vent about their mental health, together all is an anonymous peer site where you can chat with other students from other universities to discuss feelings in hopes of improving your wellbeing. It is a safe online community to talk about such things if ever needed and is suggested to anyone who needs or wants companionship in a fellow student.
New Club Additions
Three new clubs were approved at the last SGA meeting. They were the GIVE club, the animal rights association club, as well as the recreation association club. The GIVE in the GIVE club is an acronym that stands for “Growth International Volunteers Excursions”. Don’t hesitate to join if any of these sound interesting to you!
