SUNY Cortland Clubs That AREN’T Sports Related

Mackenzie Letizia · October 3, 2022

Students may know SUNY Cortland as the “Sports SUNY”, but there are many different clubs the school has to offer for people who aren’t as athletically inclined, like myself.

A Cappella

If singing is one of your hobbies, join one of the two A Capella groups Cortland has to offer. This club involves making music with your mouth and performing popular songs. No experience is needed, just a passion for music!

Greek Life

Joining a sorority or frat, you can meet your lifelong friends. Chapter’s hold events and raise money for many different organizations.

Biology Club

Anyone who is interested in science and the science community, this is perfect for you. Biology club has events like fundraisers, academic field trips, and different acts of community service.

Cortland Nites

This club organizes different trips and events for students on Friday and Saturday nights every weekend.

Cortland Writer’s Association

If you have a love for writing and promoting literacy, this is your club. You can help with the publication of the Cortland Writer, Cortland’s only bi-annual literary magazine.

Education Club

In this club you can meet so many other students with the same career path as you. You are offered hands on opportunities and advice when it comes to becoming a teacher.

French Club

Any student, experienced or not, can practice French. You also tell stories and share everything you love about the culture.

Math Club

If you are interested in anything math related, join this club to meet with professors and talk to people in the department.

New York Public Interest Research Club

This club empowers students to make positive social changes in the world and on campus. Different topics, like saving the environment and combating poverty, are discussed.

Pride Club

Anyone part of the LGBTQ+ community or any allies can join to show their support and learn about the community. The environment of this club is incredibly welcoming and open to all students.

Student Government Association

SGA manages over 60 of the clubs on campus. They are also the voice of the entire student body and work to improving student lives.

As you can see, this school has so much to offer even, if it isn’t just being on a sports team. If you attend SUNY Cortland, you can learn more at the club fair in the beginning of the fall semester.

Student Club Fair/Labor Day Carnival held in Corey Union.
