Do you struggle with getting work done in your room? Sometimes all you need is to sit in a quiet location, put some headphones in, grab a coffee and get to work. Here are some of the best places (other than the library) to get some work done in Cortland.
Corey Union
My favorite go-to spot is definitely Corey Union. During the day and in between classes it is usually pretty quiet. There are plenty of places to sit and get work done. It gets a little busier in the evenings but that’s a bonus if you enjoy people-watching. You can also walk throughout the building and find different spots or empty rooms to do your work in peace. The absolute best part of sitting in Corey is that the food there is genuinely so good. On the weekdays, Union Station is open from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m, perfect for grabbing a coffee and a breakfast sandwich. Don’t even get me started on how good Chick-N-Bap is, you need to try it if you haven’t already. They are open on weekdays from 11 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. For the people who like doing work in the evenings, Pomodori is open from 5-10 p.m. daily.
Moffett Center
Located next to Old Main is Moffett Center. This building recently went through a renovation and is one of my favorite buildings on campus. When you walk in, there is a large open space filled with couches. Along the outside of the main area are separate tables and chairs, perfect for getting work done. I would say that it is quite 90 percent of the day with the other ten percent just being the times when classes get released. If you go upstairs, it is even quieter and there are comfy chairs to feel relaxed in. Downstairs, Sawubona is open on the weekdays from 7:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. and is the perfect place to grab a snack and drink while you study.
Bru 64
Feeling like getting off campus to get your work done? Bru is just a short five-minute walk from campus with great vibes, food, and coffee. Bru has that nice local coffee shop atmosphere if that’s what you’re looking for. When the weather is nice, they have a large section of outdoor seating. You could really spend hours here. If you’re 21, they also have over 50 different beers and even wine.
There are tons of little spots all over Cortland that are perfect for studying. Most buildings on campus have sections or areas that are ideal places to get work done. You just need to walk around and see what works for you!
